Henry Tudor Ride lands at Mill Bay

Saturday morning at Horcott was somewhat tiresome as we had risen early to get away, with horses loaded, picnics prepared and satnavs set. However Bastard HQ intervened with Mr Stitch refusing to get on board the luxury trailer having been given the wink by Spot that he wasnt going hunting but was being driven for 4 hours in order to ride 25 miles per day for a week!! Mr Stitch did not like the sound of this and stood staring at the trailer until the world expert loaders from Oxlease arrived to save the day.

After this excitement we , Richard and I arrived at Dale and met up with Jim Arkell, Arthur Denaro, Michael Cunningham, Dominic Ibbs and Nick Hamilton. Soon we were in costume and preparing for our embarkment at Dale in a longboat. We were instructed in the Pembrokeshire Gig
this you can see. We then rowed in great state to Mill Bay to be met by the great and good of Pembrokeshire. This was tremendous start to our ride. We were

comfortable in our barn and slept well in anticipation of our ride.

Sunday morning woke with wonderful bright sunshine, and soon we were away on our first day's rideThe day was sensational, with outstanding views and warm sunshine. We rode 23 mile in 5 and a half hours averaging 4 1/2 miles per hour. We finished at 4 pm having had a busy but rewarding day.

And so for the next day! This time we are off to Newport and there we will follow the exact route of Henry Tudor. More to follow.................
